Do you remember last year when I told you about all of those FREE Bulbs for the taking?? Well it is happening again on Monday, May 10 at the Boise LDS Temple. They usually start early so get there early with your gloves, a box or bag to keep them in and a small shovel! Remember just because they are free does not mean that you need to take a trunk full and please remember to be courteous as this is a place of worship!

God and Counttry Family Festival

Ok....I'm back for my trip!! I wanted to tell you guys about a great local event to mark on your calenders. This Wednesday, July 1 at the Idaho Center, will be the 43rd annual God and Country Family Festival. This is a great FREE family friendly way to spend time together while celebrating this wonderful country that we are blessed to live in. We go every year! There is great music performed by local and nationally known artists, lots of great activities for the kids and the evening end with an amazing fireworks display set to wonderful music. Gates open at 5:00 and the performances start at 6:00. We usually just take a bunch of blankets (last year they would not let you bring in chairs) and some card games and sit on the grass enjoying the music and our family while we wait for the fireworks. This is a great way to kick off the 4th of July weekend! To learn more go here. I hope to see you there!!

FREE Tulip & Daffodil Bulbs!!

Have you ever gone past the Boise LDS Temple in the Spring and thought to yourself, " What do they do with all those tulips and daffodil bulbs when they are done?" Well here is your answer! They let people take them for FREE! Monday morning at 6:00 am all 37,000 bulbs will be up for grabs for anyone to take!
We got some last year and I was so excited when I saw them coming up this year! They were beautiful!! When we got them last year they still had good flowers on them so we brought them home and planted them to enjoy! If you don't want to plant them this year you can just store them in your garage or shed until the Fall to plant!
So remember Monday morning, May 11 from 6:00 am on you can go get some bulbs, just please remember not to hoard (leave some for the rest of us) and also please remember to be courteous as this is a place of worship!
Thanks Discount Queens for the heads up!
*** Update!! I just talked to my Dad who works at the Temple and he said they are were talking about holding off on the Tulips because they are all looking so beautiful! But you may still be able to get Daffodils!
Anna- Last year we did not go first thing it was later in the day and got plenty!

Hip 2 Serve!! Great site for Military Families!

I was just on Hip 2 Save and saw this post about a new site called Hip 2 Serve for deals for military families and shopping at commissaries. Here is what the post said,
"I am the big sister of the creator of Hip2Save, and have created a blog called Hip2Serve.com to highlight special deals and savings for military families. In addition to posting military discounts, sweepstakes, and special programs, I am dedicated to posting an extensive list of bi-monthly Commissary sale items paired up with current coupons. If you would like to go directly to my current commissary deals, click here. I hope that this blog provides additional savings information to those of you in the military in addition to what you currently find on Hip2Save! So please check out my blog, and let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions! I look forward to hearing from you!"
I hope you will all pass this blog on to anyone you know that serves in our military along with a big thankyou from all of us at Hooked on Savings!

These food banks have had more people seeking assistance lately due to the current economy and need more donations then ever! All you need to do is place bags filled with nonperishable food items like canned meats and fish, canned soup, juice, pasta, vegetables, cereal and rice next to your mailbox on Saturday, May 9th. I just found this email in my junk email account but thought it was worth posting it. Today is the last day for this deal and even if you cant go get any dinner it is still a great way to help others! I know I have 7 boxes of tooth paste under my sink that I got for free that I could donate! I just called Texas Roadhouse and they said that if you can't come to eat they could give you a coupon for a free appetizer on your next visit!

Help Texas Roadhouse in our "Operation USO Care Package". On April 6 Texas Roadhouse Boise, along with Texas Roadhouses nationwide, will gather in San Francisco and work together to build over 12,000 care packages for our troops overseas including: toiletries, sunscreen, reading materials, lip balms, cards, and a personal messages from you and our restaurant! Help us make a difference in the lives of those who give so much for our freedom.Donations can be dropped off to Texas Roadhouse until Wednesday, April 1. Receive a free Appetizer with each donation. Limit one per visit.
